Downloadable files

Products → Files lists everything you have uploaded. A file is stored once and can be attached to any number of products, and it counts once against your plan’s storage. If you upload the same file again, it is recognised and reused instead of being stored twice.

Every upload is scanned before anyone can download it. A file still being scanned cannot be published, and one the scanner flags cannot be attached to anything. If a file you already attached is flagged later, you are told about every product that uses it.

• Detach a file from a product at any time, until someone has bought it. After that, the attachment is permanent, because the buyer's download points at it.
• Delete a file from the library once nothing is attached to it.
• Duplicating a product copies no files. Attach the one you want from the library.

A product can ship new versions of its file. A buyer’s download is pinned to the release they bought, and you can notify past buyers when a new one is out.
