Payments

Custom payment methods

A payment method you name and price yourself: invoices, cheques, cash at pickup, anything you confirm by hand. With an optional fee or discount.

What it is

A method with nothing behind it. Sellstamp moves no money and calls no processor. The order waits as awaiting payment until you mark it paid from the order page. You can add as many custom methods as you like, and each one is separate.

Setting one up

Name
What you call it in the dashboard. Customers never see it.
Checkout label and icon
What the customer sees in the list of methods. The icon comes from your media library.
Fee
A percentage, then a fixed amount. Either can be negative, which makes it a discount.
Order range
A minimum and maximum order total. Outside it, the method is not offered.

How the fee is charged

The fee is spread across the order’s lines and taxed with them, the same way shipping is. Invoices show a Payment fee column when there is one. The range is measured against the order total without the fee.

What it does not do

  • Show payment instructions of its own. Tell the customer how to pay in your order email or on the order page.
  • Apply to quotes or seat changes. Their totals are agreed before checkout.
  • Charge per-product fees.
