Natural order

Plain alphabetical sorting puts “item 10” before “item 2”, because it compares character by character. This tool compares numbers as numbers and uses your browser’s language-aware sorting, so accented letters sort with their base letter.

Questions

Why does item 10 come after item 9?

Numbers are compared as numbers (natural sort), which is what people expect.

Can I shuffle lines randomly?

Yes. Choose “Shuffle”; choose it again for a new order.

Does uppercase come first?

Only if you tick “Uppercase before lowercase”; otherwise case is ignored for ordering.

Can I remove duplicates at the same time?

Run the result through the remove duplicate lines tool.
