How to use it

  1. Choose how many paragraphs, sentences or words.
  2. Keep or drop the classic “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet” opening.
  3. Copy it, or press “New text” for a different draw.

Where Lorem Ipsum comes from

The text is scrambled Latin from Cicero’s De finibus bonorum et malorum (45 BC), in use as printers’ placeholder text for centuries and long in the public domain. It looks like text without being readable, so a reviewer looks at the layout instead of the words.

Placeholder text hides real problems: headings that are too long, words that do not fit a button, languages that run longer than English. Replace it with real copy before you launch.

Questions

What does Lorem Ipsum mean?

It is scrambled Latin from Cicero, deliberately meaningless, so attention stays on the design.

Can I get HTML paragraphs?

Tick “Wrap paragraphs in <p>” and copy the result.

Is it free to use?

Yes. The source text is over two thousand years old and in the public domain.

Why is my text different each time?

“New text” draws a new arrangement of the same words. The first sentence stays the classic one if you keep that option.
