Image converter

Convert images between JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and BMP in your browser, one or a hundred at a time, from almost any format including GIF, SVG, ICO and, in Safari, HEIC.

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, SVG or ICO; HEIC where your browser opens it. Converted in this tab, never uploaded.

80 to 90 looks the same as the original for photos.

Your file stays on your device

Your browser opens and processes the file itself. It is never uploaded, to Sellstamp or anyone else, and nothing is kept after you close the page.

Selling images?

Photos, templates, presets or artwork: Sellstamp gives them a storefront and delivers the files automatically after payment. Open a free store

How to use it

  1. Choose or drop your images.
  2. Pick the format to convert to.
  3. Set the quality, and a background colour if the format has no transparency.
  4. Convert, then download each image or all of them as a zip.

Your images are not uploaded

Your browser opens the image, does the work in this tab, and saves the result back to your device. Nothing is sent to Sellstamp or anyone else, so there is no upload to wait for and no copy on a server afterwards.

JPG, PNG and WebP in one paragraph

JPG is small for photos but lossy and has no transparency. PNG is lossless and keeps transparency, which suits logos, screenshots and graphics, but photos come out large. WebP does both: lossy or lossless, with transparency, usually smaller than either, and every current browser reads it. Turning a JPG into a PNG does not restore detail the JPG threw away; it only stops more being lost.

What your browser can write

Every browser can save JPG, PNG and BMP. WebP can be saved by Chrome, Edge and Firefox but not Safari, and AVIF only by browsers that have added an encoder; the page checks before you start and says so rather than saving a PNG with the wrong name. Converting re-draws the image, so camera metadata such as EXIF and GPS is not carried over.

Questions

Which formats can I convert from?

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF (first frame), BMP, AVIF, SVG and ICO in any current browser, and HEIC in Safari.

Can I convert many images at once?

Yes, up to 100. Each one is converted separately, and they download together as a zip.

Why can I not save WebP in Safari?

Safari can show WebP but cannot write it from a web page. Use Chrome, Edge or Firefox for WebP output.

Does converting remove EXIF data?

Yes. The image is redrawn and saved fresh, so camera details and location are not copied to the new file.

What happens to transparency when I convert to JPG?

JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose, white by default.
