JPG to WebP

Convert JPG photos to WebP in your browser for smaller files on your website, with the quality you choose. Nothing is uploaded.

Converted in this tab, never uploaded.

80 to 90 looks the same as the original for photos.

Your file stays on your device

Your browser opens and processes the file itself. It is never uploaded, to Sellstamp or anyone else, and nothing is kept after you close the page.

Selling images?

Photos, templates, presets or artwork: Sellstamp gives them a storefront and delivers the files automatically after payment. Open a free store

How to use it

  1. Choose or drop your JPG photos.
  2. Pick the quality; 80 is a good starting point for the web.
  3. Convert and download.

Your images are not uploaded

Your browser opens the image, does the work in this tab, and saves the result back to your device. Nothing is sent to Sellstamp or anyone else, so there is no upload to wait for and no copy on a server afterwards.

Why WebP for a website

Google, which created WebP, reports lossy WebP files 25 to 34% smaller than JPGs of comparable quality. Smaller images make pages load faster, and every current browser displays WebP. Saving WebP from a web page needs Chrome, Edge or Firefox; Safari cannot write it yet, and the page tells you if your browser cannot.

Questions

How much smaller is WebP than JPG?

Google reports 25 to 34% smaller for lossy WebP at comparable quality. Your results depend on the photo.

Do all browsers support WebP?

All current browsers display WebP. Saving it from a web page works in Chrome, Edge and Firefox.

What quality should I use?

75 to 85 for website photos. Check the result at full size before replacing originals.

Should I delete my JPGs afterwards?

Keep the originals. Re-saving a lossy file loses a little each time, so always convert from the best copy you have.
