How the codes are built

Each word becomes a short code: its first letter and the next consonants, uppercase and without accents (“Large” becomes LRG), with a running number at the end so every SKU is unique. Every combination of the options gets one, up to 5,000.

Questions

What is a SKU?

A stock keeping unit: your own code for each product variant, used in stock lists, orders and reports.

Should SKUs contain the price or the date?

No. Keep them to things that never change for that variant, so the code stays valid.

Is a SKU the same as a barcode number?

No. A SKU is your internal code; a barcode such as EAN or UPC is a registered number. Use the barcode generator for the symbol.

Can I import the CSV?

Yes. It has a header row with sku and variant columns.
