Digital product license generator

Write a licence for a digital product such as a font, template, preset, photo or music: personal, commercial or extended, with project limits, credit and resale rules. A template, not legal advice.

This is a template assembled from the answers you gave. It is information, not legal advice, and no lawyer has reviewed it. Laws differ by country, state and industry, and requirements that apply to you may be missing from it. Have it reviewed by a qualified lawyer for your own jurisdiction and circumstances before you rely on it.

Street, city, postcode, country — plus a tax number, email or phone if the document needs one.

The three tiers

Personal allows non-commercial use only. Commercial allows client work and business use, and optionally use in end products that are sold. Extended always allows use in end products for sale. Every tier forbids reselling or sharing the product itself, or putting it where others can extract it, which is the clause that protects a seller of templates and assets most.

Questions

What is the difference between a commercial and an extended licence?

Here, commercial covers business and client work; extended also covers products that are sold, such as a printed item or an app, as long as your file cannot be extracted from them.

Can buyers resell my template if they change it?

Not under this licence: reselling or sharing the product, or anything from which it can be extracted, is not allowed.

Should I require a credit?

It is your choice. A credit helps discovery; many buyers prefer licences without one.

Can I sell several tiers on Sellstamp?

Yes: offer each tier as a product variant with its own price, and include the licence PDFs with the product’s files.
