JSON to YAML

Convert JSON to YAML in your browser, for configuration files such as Docker Compose, Kubernetes or GitHub Actions.

Stays on your device

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to Sellstamp or anyone else.

Building something to sell?

Sellstamp has a storefront, a checkout into your own payment account, automatic delivery and an API with webhooks. Open a free store

How to use it

  1. Paste the JSON.
  2. Check the YAML that appears below; an error names the problem in the JSON.
  3. Copy it, or download it as a .yaml file.

Nothing you paste leaves this page

The conversion runs in this browser tab. Nothing is sent to Sellstamp or anyone else, which matters for configuration files, customer exports and tokens.

Using the eemeli/yaml library

The conversion uses the widely used yaml library (ISC licence). Many tools still read YAML 1.1, where an unquoted no, on or y means a boolean and a date is a date; so strings like those, keys included, are written in quotes, and the file reads the same in YAML 1.1 and 1.2.

Questions

Is the order of keys kept?

Yes. Keys stay in the order they appear in the JSON.

Why are some strings quoted?

Values like “yes”, “on”, “y” or “2026-10-23” would be read as a boolean or a date by YAML 1.1 readers, which many tools still use. Quoting keeps them strings everywhere.

Can I convert YAML back to JSON?

Yes, with the YAML to JSON tool.

Are comments supported?

JSON has no comments, so there are none to carry over.
