Sprite sheet splitter

Split a sprite sheet or a grid image into separate PNG tiles, by rows and columns or by tile size, skipping empty tiles. In your browser.

Split in this tab, never uploaded. Tiles are saved as PNG.

Your file stays on your device

Your browser opens and processes the file itself. It is never uploaded, to Sellstamp or anyone else, and nothing is kept after you close the page.

Selling images?

Photos, templates, presets or artwork: Sellstamp gives them a storefront and delivers the files automatically after payment. Open a free store

How to use it

  1. Choose the sprite sheet.
  2. Split by rows and columns, or by tile size in pixels.
  3. Leave “Skip fully transparent tiles” on to drop empty cells.
  4. Split and download the tiles as a zip.

Your images are not uploaded

Your browser opens the image, does the work in this tab, and saves the result back to your device. Nothing is sent to Sellstamp or anyone else, so there is no upload to wait for and no copy on a server afterwards.

Two ways to cut

By rows and columns when you know how many sprites are in each direction; by tile size when every sprite is, say, 64 × 64 pixels. Tiles are numbered left to right, top to bottom, and saved as PNG so transparency is kept. Up to 1,024 tiles per sheet.

Questions

Can I split an image into equal parts for Instagram?

Yes. Set rows and columns, for example 1 row and 3 columns for a three-part panorama.

What if my sprites have spacing between them?

This tool cuts a regular grid without spacing. Crop the sheet first, or use a tile size that includes the spacing.

Are transparent backgrounds kept?

Yes. Tiles are saved as PNG.

How are the tiles named?

With the sheet’s name and a number, in reading order: left to right, then top to bottom.
