# Custom payment methods > A payment method you name and price yourself: invoices, cheques, cash at pickup, anything you confirm by hand. With an optional fee or discount. Page: https://sellstamp.com/docs/payments/custom-methods ## What it is A method with nothing behind it. Sellstamp moves no money and calls no processor. The order waits as `awaiting payment` until you mark it paid from the order page. You can add as many custom methods as you like, and each one is separate. ## Setting one up - **Name**: What you call it in the dashboard. Customers never see it. - **Checkout label and icon**: What the customer sees in the list of methods. The icon comes from your media library. - **Fee**: A percentage, then a fixed amount. Either can be negative, which makes it a discount. - **Order range**: A minimum and maximum order total. Outside it, the method is not offered. ## How the fee is charged The fee is spread across the order’s lines and taxed with them, the same way shipping is. Invoices show a *Payment fee* column when there is one. The range is measured against the order total without the fee. ## What it does not do - Show payment instructions of its own. Tell the customer how to pay in your order email or on the order page. - Apply to quotes or seat changes. Their totals are agreed before checkout. - Charge per-product fees.
